God’s Truth Stands Higher Than Feelings
We live in a time that elevates feelings above truth and acts as identity. Anxiety, insecurity, anger, pride, fear, shame, lust, comparison, envy, hopelessness etc can become familiar inner voices that distort how people see themselves and interpret their lives. Yet for the Christian, the foundation is different: not shifting emotion, but the unchanging Word of God. "Lying vanities" should not dictate life, as believers are not subject to the elements of this world
Feelings are real, but they are unreliable. They react to circumstances, memories, stress, and seasons of life. God’s Word does not. God’s word remains constant when the mind is unsettled and is anchoring when the heart feels overwhelmed. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
Anxiety whispers, “Something bad is coming.”
God declares, “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).
Anger insists, “You must defend yourself at all costs.”
God calls us to be “slow to anger, rich in mercy” (James 1:19).
Hopelessness says, “There is no future ahead.”
God promises, “I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Low self-worth declares, “You are not enough.”
God responds, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
A life of faith is not emotionless—it is anchored. Yes, emotions can be acknowledged, but they are not allowed to define identity or determine direction. Seasons of anxiety, insecurity, or emotional overwhelm will come, often intensified by words, silence, or experiences that reinforce feelings of inadequacy. But this is precisely where the Word of God interrupts the narrative.
“Take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). This is the turning point: agreement with feelings is replaced with agreement with truth. Identity is no longer shaped by validation, past wounds, or internal noise, but by what God has spoken.
When healing comes, it is intentional—shaped by the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit within. It is found in the daily decision to turn to what God has spoken, even when emotions feel louder. Instead of being governed by patterns like anger, jealousy, or fear, these are brought into God’s presence and surrendered to Him. This is where transformation begins—not in denial of emotion, but dethroned by the authority of Jesus Christ. A woman of faith is not emotionally numb; she is spiritually anchored.
Over time, what changes is not only behaviour, but identity in Christ. Insecurity is replaced with rootedness in His love. Emotional instability gives way to a growing steadiness in Christ.
God’s Word does not bend to emotion.
It stands above it.
And when life is built on that truth, peace is no longer dependent on circumstance—but anchored in Christ Himself.
God is merciful and Kind. He is Love
